Port Connectivity

Your Gateway to America's Heartland

Louisiana Gateway Port offers more than just access to water. Located where the Mississippi River meets the Gulf of Mexico, our port provides direct access to open water and a multimodal network that connects you to major markets across the country. Whether by barge, rail, or highway, we help businesses move goods faster, smoother, and farther with less friction at every step.

Reach 30+ States

BARGE

Water access like this is hard to find. Located at the southernmost tip of the Mississippi, we’re closer to open Gulf waters than any other U.S. port. With deep-draft access (50 feet deep) across more than 80 miles, we offer shipping advantages other ports simply can’t match. That means faster turnaround times and lower costs for your cargo operations.

  • 14 major anchorages
  • Direct access to inland waterways reaching more than 30 states
  • Easy access to global markets such as Latin American ports and the Panama Canal

With barge access like this, your cargo can flow easily between domestic markets and global destinations.

Access to Major Railroad Networks

RAIL

Louisiana Gateway Port is served directly by Union Pacific, giving shippers rail access to key markets in the western United States, Texas, and the Midwest. Cargo can travel on the New Orleans & Gulf Coast Railway to link up with Union Pacific’s larger network,  making it easier to move cargo quickly and avoid the congestion you’d see at other major ports.

Coming Soon: A new rail spur is in the works to make it even easier for businesses to move cargo between barge, rail, and road without unnecessary stops or slowdowns.

DIRECT CONNECTION TO MAJOR ROUTES

HIGHWAY

Louisiana Gateway Port connects directly to Louisiana Highway 23, which takes you straight to Interstate 10 and the New Orleans area. From there, freight moves easily to major logistics hubs across the Gulf South and beyond.

  • Rapid connection to regional, interstate, and cross-country shipping lanes.
  • Seamless transfers between port, rail, and road.
  • Fast access to major shipping centers: New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston, and Mobile

Whether you’re shipping regionally or nationwide, our highway network helps you avoid bottlenecks and keep cargo moving.
