The 2025 Economic Impact Analysis by economist Dr. Loren C. Scott confirms Louisiana Gateway Port’s role as a major economic engine for Plaquemines Parish and the State of Louisiana. From 2021–2024, nine port tenants generated $18.3 billion in statewide business sales, nearly $6 billion in new household earnings, and supported an average of 27,700 jobs each year. Within the five-parish regional economy, tenant activity created $17.2 billion in sales, $5.3 billion in local earnings, and $607 million in parish revenues—anchored by world-scale investments like Venture Global LNG, the Chevron Oronite plant, and bulk-handling terminals serving agriculture, construction, and energy sectors.
In 2024 alone, ongoing port operations supported over 32,000 Louisiana jobs, contributing $1.9 billion in household income and $136 million in state tax revenue. Future expansion projects—including Venture Global Phase 3, the Louisiana Gateway Terminal, and Gulfstream LNG—are projected to add billions more in new construction spending, sales growth, and high-wage employment through 2036.

The Louisiana Gateway Port (LGP) drives billions in annual economic value as one of the Gulf’s leading multimodal trade hubs. According to the 2025 Economic Impact Analysis by economist Dr. Loren C. Scott, port tenants generated $18.3 billion in statewide business sales, $6 billion in household earnings, and $419 million in Louisiana state tax revenues from 2021–2024.
Across the five-parish regional economy—Plaquemines, Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, and St. Tammany—LGP activity created $17.2 billion in sales, $5.3 billion in local earnings, and $607 million in parish revenue. The Port and its nine major tenants, including Venture Global LNG, Chevron Oronite, and other bulk and energy operators, directly and indirectly support more than 32,000 Louisiana jobs with an average annual wage of $75,134, 25 percent above the state average.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Charles D. Tillotson and the Plaquemines Port Commission, LGP continues to expand with future projects such as Venture Global Phase 3, the Louisiana Gateway Terminal, and Gulfstream LNG—each poised to add billions in construction spending, job creation, and long-term trade growth for Louisiana and the broader Gulf of America region
